Harmony: the Relationship Building strength for founders

We don't have to fight to get there.

What it is

They look for overlap, not victory. Conflict is expensive. Common ground is a strategy.

What it is not

Not Empathy (feeling). Not Includer (everyone in). Not Relator (depth). Harmony wants productive peace.

How it shows up in a founder

How this strength breaks the company

Superpowers in the company

Product

Keeps brand, ops, and creative from becoming three companies. Alignment as a feature.

People

Low drama. High retention of people who hate politics. Under-serves people who need a clean fight.

Money

Saves the relationship that saves the account. Weak at the collection war.

Ops

Cross-functional glue. Can stall a hard cut or a hard launch to 'keep people good.'

You, them, co-founder

If you have it

Seek agreement on the outcome, not on every feeling. Write the dissent. Peace after the decision.

If they report to you

Put them on partner management, internal alignment, CS escalations. Don't make them the person who has to fire their friend without backup.

If they're a co-founder

They keep the company from civil war. You must still pick the fight that is the business.

Working rule

Find the overlap. Then name the remaining disagreement out loud so it doesn't go underground.

Ask this

What conflict did you refuse to paper over last quarter?

Hire beside them

Command, Competition, Activator, Strategic

Someone who will have the fight Harmony will not — without turning the company into a battlefield.

Tells

Looks for the nod. Changes 'but' to 'and.' Body language of a referee, not a boxer.

Stress tell

More smoothing. The real issue goes to a side chat that never happens.

Don't confuse with

Empathy feels it. Includer brings people in. Harmony wants agreement. Pair with Command so peace isn't a cover.
